I did a regular wash today and added a layer of FK1000P too, and tried a new (to me) drying method; drying the car with water!

...And I have to admit, IT WORKS! The car just have to be waxed well. I managed to dry the car entirely and only random water drops left behind. Then I dried them just by whisking the MF so that it barely touched the paint. I think I'll start to use this as my drying method every time when possible. That's one phase less where I have to touch the paint !

I should have made my own video, but this will do it for now:

That's how i always finish up washing my car, just letting the water "sheet" off so that there is very little water left on the car.

But it's impossible if the finish hasn't been maintained, I washed a 4Runner today that hadn't been cleaned in months and it was a PITA. I used 2 giant waffle-weave towels to dry it off, and it STILL wasnt' dry.

I've not read the entire thread yet, but I have to say, I'd be a little concerned about drying your car with water - remember: ever stones change shape and brake up from water pressure. I'm sure, after enough times, pressurized water will start eating the paint... maybe I'm crazy, but that's what I'd expect...

I didn't mean to knock your idea, or anything - just wanna make sure you know its safe, I guess :D

Ok, you got me - I had not watched the video before posting, but now that I have, I still feel sort of reluctant about it - I'd not do it. But hey, I don't have a black car, so its easier for me  :P

Been doing the drying the car with water trick for about 30 years now...it's one of those "secrets" that once you know it, you wonder how you ever got along without it!

As others have said, it definitely works best when the car has a good coat of wax on it. Also, reduce the pressure of the water coming out of the hose -- you don't want too strong of a stream because it'll make little splashes as you move around...

It's not like the water is being destroyed. It's going to be recycled. Shit, humans only use about 10% of potable water. Most of it is used in industrial applications, if you really want to save the environment and its water then find a way to cut down on industrial water use.
