M5 Front Brakes 545i to M5 front brake system conversion

did you need the M5 caliper carriers as well to make the retrofit work ?
see item no.2 HERE
I believe it ! but doesn't make sense..the part no's for the 2 carriers (M5 & 545i) are different...
(carrier is the part that you need to place the calipers on and then on to the axle)

As already said, yes, you need also part 02 .
Remapped, Mtech, M5 mirrors, 166 19" rims, M5 front brakes, M5 front bumper with stock fenders, M5 rear bumper with custom catback quad exhaust and rear grill, Quaife Limited Slip Differential (0-75%), replaced the 2.93 final drive ratio with 3.15 (-7%), M5 instrument cluster, custom leather armrest, Dension Gateway 500

- headers, 200 cells kat, exhaust
- R56 big brake kit, brembo 4 pot 322mm grooved and drilled, 280 mm at the rear

It's unbelievable the carrier and hex bolts from the carrier bolt on in plug and play style to the 545i !

Not so unbelievable: the M5 is an E60 like 520d and 545i, nothing special!

Upgrade smaller 525 530 528 front brakes to bigger 545 550 535 brakes and feel the difference!

1. I definitely want to purchase cross-drilled rotors and need to know where to get them but I also need to know if I need to change out the calipers and thus the brake pads? The car in question is a brand new '08 550i.
2. Since everybody is painting, I'm guessing BMW does not offer calipers in different colors? What color would you go with on an all white 550 with 167 wheels? I think the red would look nice but might be too bold so I may just leave them black. I'm interested to see what you guys think honestly about the caliper colors. Which ones would you do?

You'd need calipers, pads and rotors from the M5!
1 and 2 (only rotors and not those plates)
