2005 525i Tranny problem any help?

Bought my 5 with the gear indicator light on for tranny. Car is still capable of driving and can go up to 60-70 mph seems like it stays on 3rd gear from start till it reaches that velocity. My buddy was able to check for codes it also has a check engine light but the only one I memorized was p0700 which is the code for the tranny. I will find out the check engine light code tomorrow. I'm wondering if there's something else that can affect the tranny Witout it actually being the tranny like computer issue maybe a sensor. Any help would be great thanks

Toggle settings on the JB4.....

Here's a question for anyone who has a JB4 installed:

How do you enable/disable a feature. For exmple, if I want to enable the gauge sweep I know how to access the dashboard interface and navigate to the menu I want using the vol and ch buttons on the steering wheel. But once I get to where I want to be within the menu - how do I turn the feature on/off?

Help - Bass Loss

Hey guys, on a trip from Orlando last night, my bass in the car just cut out entirely. Yes, I do have an amp and subs in the trunk. However, I've checked that entirely and even removed it. But there is still a shortage of bass coming from the underseats. All speakers around the car work fine.

Any ideas on troubleshooting? Any particular fuses I should check? I didn't see one specifically for the subwoofers.

Much thanks.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have the 19" M-172 wheels and yesterday hit yet another of New Jerseys infamous potholes, and there goes the 5TH tires is 6 months. I am running 245/35/19's Conti-Sport contact 2's on the car. I have 275/30/19's on the rear. As I said 5 front tires in past 6 months and I've had it. Have the M172's chromed by the way. I will take any suggestions on a different size tire or make that might help me with this issue. I was thinking of going with 245/40/19 to get a little more sidewall between the road and the rim. Also thinking of going with the conti DWS. I dont need strictly summer tires, IMO they ride like bricks unlesss they are warmed up.Im not sure how big of a tire I could go with without causing an issue with the car. Thank you for anyone who might help me out!!!

Hey guys, Im still a rookie to the 5 series forum but hopefully this will get me some stripes from the vets. I ended up modifying the crap out of my e60. Threw a lot of money at it and wasted a lot of money as well on things I ended up changing or going a different direction with. After three tint jobs, two sets of wheels, and a list of mods long enough to make my fiance want to kill me. So this is where Im at for now in till I get the M5 mirrors.

Also I like how the car rev matches once i downshift.
My question is do you let off the gas when the car shifts, and two who else drives like that, or do you all just leave it in d and drive.
Last few days I been driving completely sport button on and manual shifts. Car feels so much more lively.

Hello guys, first legit post here.

I picked up my 04 6mt 545 a couple of weeks ago with 82,000 miles. About a week into it I began noticing a squeaky noise when depressing the clutch, particularly at lower speeds. Nothing too loud, but enough to notice it. I have not noticed any slipping while driving, but am a little concerned about this noise. Is this something I should get checked out? Is it simply the age of the vehicle?

Thanks,

project sinister has begun!!!! build thread content

Hi guys, always been a fan of build threads and about 3 weeks ago I saw the reflection of my car when I was arriving at the office and then suddenly I got this idea and everything was so clear. I just knew I had to exploit the potential of my e60 and that I shouldn't procrastinate any longer.
all of the sudden I found myself searching the web all night looking for pics and videos, you know how it goes, then I asked myself, why not share this passion and love for my car with my fellow members at e60.net? and that's how this thread was born. knowing how I am, I knew I had to put a deadline so this project WILL be ready within a year and Ill keep updating this thread on a regular basis so you can give your opinion and I can assure you that it will matter as I will take your ideas into consideration.

ok, now on to the project! this is the reflection I saw and although I know is nothing out of the ordinary it was enough to make me realize two things: 1) how cool this car would look being all black with just those yellow angel eyes and 2) it looks wider in the reflection and I really like that look so my car has to be wider which means that m5 fenders are a must.
I don't want to spoil the whole project so Ill be posting pics of the the work done on the car and pics of the parts that I buy once they arrive so you can track how everything goes.
here are some pics of the car now:

How to search the forum?

Ever so often I come on here a try to search for whatever. Everytime, I get info that is not applicable to what it is I'm searching for. My question is, how can I get results for exactly for what I am searching for? For instance, on Google, you can simply put quotes at the beginning and end of what you are looking for and it will narrow down the results.

I have 'steering vibration' and its not my Avant Garde wheels this time. It only happens when I brake yet my rotors do not even have a lip on the outer edge making me believe that its something other than warped OEM rotors. Maybe bushings? I rather not replace them if I dont have to. If I do, I want the hardest f ing rotor I can find because I'm sick of warping rotors on every car I have ever owned. Advice would be appreciated.

thanks!

muffler delete questions

So i went to meineke yesterday after work to check out if they could do a muffler delete on my 545i and run 2 pips on each side with quad tips. the guy hear the numbers 545 and his first response was im not touching that.. lol i kinda chuckled inside but was sad at the same time, he couldn't even give me a quote.

he went on explaining about back pressure sensors and o2 sensors but all those are located by the cats, im guessing he just didnt want to work on my car.

for people who have done this is it just as simple as cutting the mufflers and running pipes or is there more than that and im missing something? also where would be a good place to get this done?

i tried searching but couldnt find the answer i was looking for, sorry if i have poor searching skills lol

any help is appreciated

Quick question...will the CIC retrofit with combox and 6NR charge an iPhone 4S? Rather than using the arm rest, I want to use the specdock. I don't know if I should buy the charging kit for it.

Logic 7 speaker specs

I reckon I own most of the audio threads in this forum but hell, I need to make sure I won't add another saying blown amp/subs/speakers

I have recently replaced all the mid-range speakers in my car to logic 7 ones and also added logic 7 tweeters.
Now I want to add an amp to properly power them.

There are 4 sets of speakers, each set is made of 1 x midrange and 1 x tweeter connected in parallel (according to Logic 7 spec sheet attached)
Each speaker is rated 40w and 4 ohms, the resistance being 2 ohms for the pair (one channel).

I am trying to work out what power the amp needs for each of the 4 channels.
Will it need 40w + 40w = 80w RMS per channel @ 2 ohms?
Or 40w RMS for each channel @ 2 oms?

Problem with passenger and drivers side A/C

I have warmer, or not as cold air coming out of the driver's side compared to the passenger's side. With idrive I have made all the adjustments to have the levels for both the same, as well as having the thermostats at the same settings. Any ideas as to what the problem is. Does my 550 have separate compressors? Thanks

The perfect drop on coils

What's everyone's opinion on the perfect drop height for our e60 on coilovers. Is it #1 the modest drop where you can see the whole tire and a little top of the tread. #2 the more aggressive drop where the top tread of tires is not visible and no fingers can get in the gab in a straight way only if bent in a L way. Or finally #3 the slammed look. For this your either VIP tuckin or running stretched tires. Please vote

Stealer woke my car up - jb3 story

Okay, completely true story.

Took my car to VOB BMW (owned by someone else now) only because my dash was starting to look like a Christmas tree. I was planning on taking it in just for the battery cable recall issue and the check engine light was on due to the brake fluid needing to be flushed (If they actually did it or not, I have no idea). All I have done to increase power is put in the jb3. I was never impressed with it to be quite honest. I dont have DCI's so I set it to stage 5 and it felt slightly more powerful than stock. I later decided a few months ago to set it to stage 7 just to see (we have 93 octane here in Md. everywhere). With it stock and stage " 7 " I would launch the car from a stand still with traction control off, spin the tires for maybe 20 ft and it would hook up easily from there. I read so many posts how amazing it was and all the stories of how much faster the car was.... blah !
Well, after the 4 recalls were attended to, brake fluid flushed, and the DME reflashed, I hopped in and put it in drive and immediately noticed a difference. WTF is what I was wondering. Is it in sport mode??? I made a right turn onto the avenue (Rockville Pike) and gave it moderate gas.... boom! The freaking car felt like I floored it. I was totally confused to say the least. Anyway, onto the highway, and man, it really is faster than my old e46 M3. I am so much happier with it now, of course I want the DCI's or whatever else I can get to maximize the boost being turned up. Other than Meth, downpipes, and an exhaust, if anyone has any ideas or some used parts they want to sell me, let me know, I will buy right away!

Anyone have any idea what the Stealer may have done that let the jb kick in like this?

thanks!
