Thumbs up

What is Head Up Display?

Head Up Display, or HUD for short, presents important driving information such as speed, NAV instructions, warning messages, directly in the drivers line of vision. It appears as if the text is floating in mid-air near the end of the cars hood.

Is the HUD worth it or is it just a gimmick?
  • The HUD, especially in conjunction with Navigation, is tremendously helpful. Having the turn-by-turn instructions visible without taking your eyes off the road is not only convenient, but also safer.

  • The HUD display is perfectly visible in direct sunlight as well as darkness.

Additional information on how the Head-Up Display works can be found in the BMW Technology Guide and in this post..
