Here is a brand new article on the iPhone and its compatibility with several BMW models. I know BMW USA has posted a list already, but it was too short and really not informative at all. Basically, this article shows in detail what BMW vehicles, year and make, are functioning properly with the iPhone. If the list is not accurate or you have something to add, please feel free to do so.

Here are a few lines from the article:

I have decided to start tracking down other BMW vehicles that were not on the BMW list, but would still work with the iPhone. Let?s keep the list ordered, so I will start with the 3-series, followed by the 5-series, and so on and so forth:

iPhone compatible with:

3-series E46 model built 2005

User review: ?Paired my iphone with my 05 e46 330xi yesterday. Worked like a charm.?

3-series E90 built 2006 with and without iDrive

User review: ?my iPhone is now working and I have successfully paired it with the bluetooth in my 2006 235i. ?

5-series built 2005

User review: ?The iphone works fully on my ?05 525i. Full address book transfer with just over 550 contacts and all other features work as well. ?

5-series built August 2006

User review: ?I have the dealer installed iPod connector in the glove-box. The contacts all come up on the navi screen and are very descriptive. The iPod feature works great and I haven?t had any problems with either vehicle yet ?

Hi Irv... my 2005 545i works fine on the Bluetooth end with my iPhone but doesn't work and I get an error when I try and use my iPhone as an iPod. My 545i was a February delivery date so I missed the cutoff by a few month (5 Series March 2005)... is there anything any of us in my situation can do?

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried using it anyways even though you get the error on your iphone? I've read here that it still works through the idrive even with the error. Let us know if you get it working.

here is what my article on iPhone said:

"For users with the iPod integration in the ARMREST:

Initially, the iPhone, when plugged in gives you an error warning message that ?this accessory is not meant to be used with the iPhone, would you like to switch to Airplane mode?. Once the iDrive and iPhone systems initialize together, your playlists and songs show up without a problem. "

I'm not sure if this is your case. Also, remember than BMW mentioned that only the cars with the 6FL will let the iPhone works as an Ipod ad well.

let me know if that helps

Is there anyone else out there with an earlier model e60 that can vouch that the iPod adaptor in the glovebox works wth the iPhone? I am looking to have full compatibility, so able to use both Bluetooth and iPod through idrive simultaneously without having any kind of hum or interference through the stereo. Please post your experiences. I really want to get the ipod adaptor, but i really need to know if it actually works before buying it. Thanks..........
